Edward DeCrescenzo died peacefully on January 23, 2024 at The Center for Hope in Scotch Plains, NJ.
He is the beloved husband of retired Superior Court Judge Elaine Davis, loving father of Diane Gerardi and Theodore DeCrescenzo and grandfather of Emily, Michaela and Lisa Giraidi and Matthew DeCrescenzo. He is also survived by his dear sister, Jean Skarzenski.
After his service in the United States Navy, Ed joined the Jersey City Police Dept. and retired with the rank of Lieutenant. He then pursued a career in education and taught Biology at Marist and Weehawken High Schools. He last served as Chief Inspector for The NJ Department of Labor, completing his professional career.
Ed was a graduate of Dickinson High School, St. Peter’s College and pursued post graduate study and New Jersey City University.
He was an avid fisherman and was most happy at the end of a fishing pole in the waters of Lake Hopatcong.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2024 from 2 to 6 PM at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave., Westfield www.higginsandbonner.com A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 29, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Bartholomew the Apostle RC Church in Scotch Plains. Entombment will follow at St. Teresa’s Cemetery in Summit.
