Edward D. Buckley of Waretown NJ, peacefully passed away at the Center for HOPE Hospice and Palliative Care in Westfield, NJ on June 9, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Ed was born and raised in Cork City, County Cork Ireland. He was a devoted husband and family man who loved the Lord. He moved with his family to the Bronx, New York in 1958 and moved to New Jersey where he and his family resided since 1965. He spent his career working with his hands as a carpenter and locksmith in NYC until retiring in 1996. In his spare time, Ed mastered his carpentry skills by building and upholstering furniture and doing renovations to his house. He was a jack of all trades. He was a devout Catholic, an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waretown, NJ and a was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. Later in life, he found time to relax and enjoy a few rounds of golf. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Ed is now living in the presence of his heavenly Father and loved ones for all eternity.
Ed is survived by his wife, Nora, of 65 years and his five children, Patrick (Dawn) Buckley, Paul (Tracy) Buckley, Theresa (William) Hunziker, Kenneth (Maryann Solomon) Buckley, Ann (Greg) Guerra. He leaves behind thirteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, nieces and nephews that he so cherished.
The wake will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022, from 3 – 7 p.m. at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, located at 582 Springfield Avenue, Westfield, N.J. 07090.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at St. Helen Roman Catholic Church located at 1600 Rahway Ave, Westfield, NJ 07090.
The interment ceremony will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, located at 1734 Clinton Ave in South Plainfield, NJ
