Dr. Thomas C. Streko

Dr. Thomas C. Streko, of Westfield and Florham Park NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 12th after a long and valiant fight with cancer.  

Dr. Streko grew up in Whippany, NJ and later moved with his parents and brothers to Waretown, NJ.  He graduated from Southern Regional High School and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Rutgers University. Dr. Streko then completed the required course of education and training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, earning his D.M.D. in 1978. Upon completion, he moved into a three-year residency program at the National Institute of Health’s Public Service Department.  

Dr. Streko later opened his own dental practice in Westfield, NJ where he would provide over three decades of service to the community.  He always treated his staff and patients as members of his extended family. An avid nature enthusiast, he was constantly appreciating wildlife and stopping to enjoy the sunsets.  He loved live music, boating, golfing, and being in the company of friends & family.  A local hero, Dr. Streko will be remembered for his compassion, dedication, generosity, and love for life.  

Dr. Streko is predeceased by his parents Charles and Anna Streko.  He is survived by his loving partner - Cheryl DaVeiga and his three brothers and their spouses – Bob and Dee Streko, John and Kathy Streko, and Joseph and JoAnn Streko. He is also survived by his three children and their spouses – Gina and John Szeles, Thomas Jr. and Kelly Streko, Benjamin Streko and his three grandchildren - Ava, Anthony, and Domenic Szeles.  He is additionally survived by many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

The viewing will be on Thursday, December 16th from 4:00pm – 8:00pm.  A funeral mass will be held on Friday, December 17th at 10:00 AM at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Cranford.  Burial will follow at The Gates of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
