Douglas Armand Redden

Douglas A. Redden, 80, of Westfield, NJ died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at his daughter’s home in Mountainside, NJ.
Mr. Redden was born November 6, 1940, in Newark, NJ, to Harry and Dorothy (Horton) Redden.
Raised in Newark and a 1959 graduate of Irvington High School, Mr. Redden joined the United States Army in 1961 where he was stationed at Fort Hamilton, NY. He completed his service in the Army Reserves as a medic and was Honorably discharged in 1967.
In 1968, Mr. Redden joined the Westfield Police Department where he dutifully served his community for 25 years during which time he received several commendations for heroism including the Union County 200 Club Valor Award. He retired from the Westfield Police Department in 1993.
Mr. Redden is survived by his three children: Daughters Nancy Attanasio and her husband Allan, Lisa Minks and her husband Christopher, and his son, Michael Redden. He is also survived by his four beloved Grandchildren Nicole, Jenna, Georgia, and Christopher.
Visitation will held on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 from 4 to 7 PM at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave., Westfield.
