Doris Lueddeke Obituary

~ In Loving Memory ~

Doris Petry Lueddeke of Mountainside, 98

Doris Petry Lueddeke was reunited with her beloved husband, Albert E. Lueddeke, in heaven,
on August 20, 2020. With her family by her side, she entered into eternal rest at her home of 71
years in Mountainside, New Jersey.

Born on February 28, 1922, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Doris was a secretary at The Prudential in
Newark, New Jersey, where she and “Al” met. Their love story transcends generations and was
the everlasting light of her life. A founding resident of Mountainside Borough since 1949, she
was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Deeply rooted
in her Catholic faith, Doris was a charter member of Our Lady of Lourdes parish and a founding
member of their Adoration Chapel and Rosary Society. While raising her daughters, she was
actively involved in numerous community activities, including P.T.A., Girl Scouts, girls’ softball,
and the Mountainside Board of Election. Doris was the secretary at Deerfield School in
Mountainside for 15 years and volunteered for 25 years until the age of 90 at Overlook Hospital
in Summit, New Jersey. She was a wonderful cook, talented seamstress, enjoyed playing Bridge,
and dabbled in upholstery, gardening, and furniture refinishing. Always a gracious hostess, her
many talents were reflected in her home and through her family.

Cherishing her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Lynn (née Lueddeke) Reed and Dennis
Reed of Phoenix, Maryland; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie (née Lueddeke) Sheppard and
David A. Sheppard of Berkeley Heights, New Jersey; five grandchildren, Brian Reed and Allison
Reed Picone, Lindsey Sheppard Guyton and husband, Dan Guyton, Scott Sheppard and Bethany
Sheppard; and five great grandchildren, Cecelia Picone, Marisa Picone, Brielle Bethany Guyton,
Brett Daniel Guyton, and Brinley Belle Guyton. She was pre-deceased by her husband in 1975.
Doris was a long-time donor to and recent beneficiary of The Center of Hope Hospice and
Palliative Care of Scotch Plains.
