Dolores Jean (Bender) Steele

Dolores Jean Bender Steele, 73, of Westfield, NJ  passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on March 31, 2023 at Morristown Memorial Hospital.

Dolores was born on February 23, 1950 in Newark, NJ to the late George and Doris Bender.  Dolores grew up in Kenilworth and graduated from David Brearley High School in 1968.  After graduation Dolores worked in the family business for many years.  She and her then husband John had three children together.  Dolores dedicated her life to being the best mother, cheerleader and supporter of her children. 

Dolores married Ronald Steele on May 23, 2003 and they began a wonderful life together.  They started a business together and they worked side by side until the very end. His love for her was known by all. 

Dolores was a fiercely dedicated “Grammy” to all of her eight grandchildren.  She was their #1 Fan at every sporting event, always the loudest one cheering them on.  She lived every day for her grandkids!

Dolores is survived by her loving husband Ronald.  She leaves behind three children, Christopher (Sue), Jennifer (Jimmy) and Stephanie (Jeremy), eight grandchildren, Victoria, Briant,  Emma, Abby, Isabella, Reid, Jonna, and CJ and step grandchildren Mackenzie and Delaney.

Services will be held on April 5, 2023, 4-8 pm at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, Westfield, NJ. Burial to follow on April 6, 2023 at Hollywood Cemetery in Union, NJ
