David R. Allan

Dave Allan who died Wednesday April 22 was born in Stroudsburg Pennsylvania on March 5, 1936. He graduated from Western Reserve Academy and Williams College. He also received a Masters Degree from NYU. He taught for two years at Nichols School in Buffalo and came to Pingry School in 1960 where he taught history for 41 years.

He served as Chair of the History Department and as Director of College Guidance. He also coached football, basketball, baseball and lacrosse. Dave served as a lacrosse referee and is a member of the NJ Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Services will be held at a later date.

Dave is survived by his wife Connie (Cornelia), son David and wife Betsy, son Chuck, son Christopher and wife Alison, and former son in law Andrew Smith. He was predeceased by his daughter Lisa Allan in 1999.s

He also is survived by eight grandchildren and two step grandchildren.
