Cindy Boyle Obituary

Cynthia Boyle, 71, of Cranford, passed away on Sept. 15, 2020 with her husband and son by her side.

Born in Queens, NY on April 25, 1949 to Anastasio and Eleni Hasterlis, Cynthia graduated from Saddle Brook High School in 1967 and then from Montclair State University in 1971 with a B.A. in art education. She married Gerard Boyle in 1983 and moved to Westfield, NJ that same year. They lived together in their home on Dorian Road for 32 years before relocating to Cranford, NJ.

Cynthia is survived by her husband Gerard; son James Boyle and daughter in-law Ivana Boyle of Jersey City, NJ; son Kevin Boyle and daughter in-law Danielle Boyle of Ormond Beach, FL; son Bryan Boyle and daughter in-law Christine Boyle of Flagler Beach, FL; sister Maria Hasterlis of Fair Lawn, NJ; grandchildren Sierra Boyle and Hattie Boyle.

Cynthia was a teacher to generations of students whom she cherished. She first worked as a teacher for the New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired at their rehabilitation center in Newark. After taking a hiatus from her teaching career to focus on family life, Cynthia would eventually find a second career teaching pre-school for the Holy Trinity School District in Mountainside. She taught there for 13 years before her retirement in 2019.

Cynthia was a kind and gentle person. She will be remembered as a friend, teacher, grandmother, beloved mother and wife.
