Charles Francis Kiley Jr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and respected business leader, passed away peacefully at home, with his loving and devoted wife, Barbara, at his side.

Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Charlie was raised in New York City and Westfield, New Jersey. He attended Holy Trinity School from kindergarten through twelfth grade, graduating in 1964. He distinguished himself as a standout athlete in both basketball, baseball and track. He and his friend Kurt often relived moments from their glory days. Additionally, he served as class president, distinguished member of the National Honor Society and was the recipient of various academic awards. He went on to graduate from Villanova University in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government and later earned his Master’s in Business Administration in General Finance from George Washington University in 1973.

Charlie began his professional career with the Small Business Administration in Washington, D.C. He then embarked on a long and distinguished career at Bankers Trust Company, where he played a key role in the firm's evolution from a traditional commercial bank into a leading merchant investment bank. He first contributed to this transformation as a member of the highly successful leasing group and later as a critical leader of the Loan Sales, Syndication, and Trading business. As a pioneer in this field, Charlie was instrumental in Bankers Trust's success during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Charlie also spent several years in Edinburgh, Scotland, leading The WM Company, the global leader in investment fund performance measurement and analytics. Following the acquisition of Bankers Trust by Deutsche Bank, he served for many years as a consultant to the firm's Wealth Management business. Charlie was widely respected for his steady anddecisive leadership, sound judgment, and genuine compassion for colleagues and clients alike.

A longtime resident of Mountainside, New Jersey, Charlie made his home there for more than 40 years. He was an avid and loyal fan of the New York Giants, Yankees, Knicks and loved watching Villanova basketball. His pride and joy were his two daughters, Shannon and Nora. Watching them grow up and raise their own children brought him immense happiness. He spent countless hours cheering on his grandchildren in their many and varied sports and activities. Beach vacations with family were an annual tradition he cherished. He loved spending time cooking in the kitchen from soup for Barbara and friends to pancakes for the grandkids. Charlie relished sailing with long-time friends Juan and Tim, and with his brothers, and loved being on the water.  

Above all, Charlie was a deeply devoted family man. Family was always paramount in his life, and he took great pride in the accomplishments and happiness of those he loved. He carried on a long-standing family tradition of caring for those less fortunate. He was actively involved in supporting charities:local, national and international.

He was predeceased by his parents, Charles Francis Kiley Sr. and Billee Kiley, and his brother, Edward Kiley.

Charlie is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his daughters, Shannon Murphy and her husband Mark Murphy, and Nora Long and her husband David Long; and his cherished grandchildren, Andrew Murphy, Tim Murphy, Ellie Murphy, Callen Long, Carter Long, and Conor Long. He is also survived by his sister, Anne Kiley; his brothers, Paul, John, and David; David’s son Henry; and by dozens of loving nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.

Charlie will be remembered for his integrity, his warmth, and his unwavering dedication to his family. His presence will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.

The family will receive friends during a memorial gathering in the Oratory to St. Joseph at the Shrine of St. Joseph on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The Shrine is located at 1050 Long Hill Road, Stirling, NJ 07980. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated immediately afterward at 11:15 a.m. in the Main Chapel. A committal service and interment of ashes in the columbarium will follow. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend.
