Charles Federico of Springfield, NJ entered into eternal rest on the morning of September 29, 2019. He left behind his loving wife, Carol, his adoring daughters, Caren Ehrhardt and Cheryl Federico and their respective husbands, James Ehrhardt and Jeffrey Voris whom he considered his best friends; his beloved grandchildren, Wyatt Ehrhardt and Devon Voris; and his beloved step granddaughter, Allyson Voris. In addition to his immediate family, he had many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Born in Newark, NJ on September 30, 1937 and raised in Elizabeth, NJ, he was the loving son of Charles Federico and Florence Serpico, predeceased by his beloved older brother Peter who died at age 9. He graduated from Thomas A. Edison High School in 1955, served 2 years active duty and 4 years reserve in the US Army. He met, fell in love and married Carol in 1959. He owned and operated Whiteway Fish Market for 37 years before his early retirement in 1996. He resided with his family in Springfield for 40 years and enjoyed a 24-year retirement with his beloved Carol. Charlie looked forward to Carol's delicious meals every day for the 60 years of their marriage! During his retirement, he was an avid woodworker and built many beautiful pieces of furniture for Carol, and other family members and friends.
Charlie was a lover of life, family, friends, a good cigar and a good Scotch. He was an eternal optimist who always saw the glass half full and would lift the spirits of anyone who was in his presence. He would always lend a helping hand and was generous and kind to people of all walks of life. A true Libra, he weighed the sides of every story and gave everyone the benefit of the doubt. He had some classic lines about life that became famous to friends and family...and often reverberated by many.
Charlie was one of the greats, a man's man, a true classic whose memory we will always cherish in our hearts.
