Charles A Culley, Jr, 87, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, died peacefully surrounded by his wife and children on August 15th at the Center for Hope in Scotch Plains Charles was born in Somerville, NJ and grew up in Bound Brook, N.J., where he graduated from Bound Brook High School in 1955. He was married to his beloved wife, Frances for 63 years and together they raised their children, Dorothy, Barbara, Debbie and Michael, in Scotch Plains and later were snowbirds splitting their time between Scotch Plains and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
“Charlie” began his career in the Supermarket Industry in 1955 and worked his way up to Director of Dairy and Deli operations before entering the Egg Industry as President of Colonial Foods in 1970. In 1984 he founded his own business, CMC Enterprises, a food brokerage and consulting firm. He took great pride in founding this family business, working alongside his son, daughters and family members. He was a devoted family man who put his family first. He worked hard to give his children and grandchildren college educations because he placed such a high importance on the value of an education.
Charlie was well respected and a pillar within the Food Industry cultivating lifelong friendships with many of his colleagues, He was awarded many accolades throughout his career and was honored by the Family Reach Foundation for his commitment to fighting childhood cancer. He served in the National Guard from1959 to1965. Charlie was an avid sports fan enjoying professional sports and watching his grandchildren play high school and college ball. Charlie cultivated a love for the NY Yankees within his family and enjoyed watching ball games in person and on television,
Charlie was a man of the utmost integrity and loyalty. He had a sense of humor and a unique personality. He along with his wife, Fran, believed deeply in the love of family and fostered this same devotion within their children and grandchildren, He was the foundation from which the family grew from a couple to over 30 immediate family members today. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Charles is predeceased by his parents, Charles A. Sr and Dorothy (Burke) Culley, brother-in-law Frank Cawley and sister-in-laws Joanne Culley and Maureen Platt. Surviving is his beloved wife Frances (McGough); his children and their spouses, Dorothy (Ronald Lusk), Barbara (Jimmy Pasquarella); Debbie (Frank Mastrocola); Michael Culley; grandchildren and spouses, Kelly (Steven Kroll), Tara (Mike D’Aloia), Jillian (Joseph Caratozzolo), Chelsea (Thomas Hercel), Marissa, Joseph, Christina and Julianna Mastrocola; great grandchildren, Lucas, Tyler and Cameron Kroll; Claire and Carter Hercel; Gabriella, Francesca and Angelina Caratozzolo and brother & sister, Joseph Culley and Kathy Cawley along with many nieces and nephews.
