Catherine (Kay) Stollen passed away Wednesday morning just shy of her 96th birthday, at her home of 74 years, surrounded by her loving family. She was born and raised in Newark. She married the love of her life Walter in 1948, and they settled in Kenilworth. Together they were the founding partnership of Stollen Machine & Tool Co., during Kenilworth’s industrial growth of the 1950’s. The company continues to thrive in its 3rd generation. They had three children Robert (Karen), Curtis (Colleen) and Cathleen (Bob) and son in law Ken Cohen.
Her greatest prayer as a young girl was to be a good wife and mother. She was blessed with a circle of love that grew to include 5 grandchildren: Jessie (Marty), Doug (Mia), Jeffrey, Katy and Chris (Sarah) also 4 great grandchildren Finn, Walter, Ruby Kay and Otto.
She was predeceased by her parents George and Catherine Grau, Brothers George and Richard and her loving husband of 46 years Walter.
Kay and Walt spent many a wonderful summer at the shore in Forked River.
Kay and the family were blessed with the love, dedication and caring of her "Earth Angel" Sondra and The Center of Hope Hospice in extending Mom’s days and enjoyment of life.
To know mom was to love her. We will miss her earth presence dearly, but are comforted to know that she is dancing together with dad again.
Friends are invited to meet Saturday March 19th at 9:00 to 10:00 at Higgins and Bonner Funeral Home, Westfield to be followed with a 10:30 mass at St Theresa Church 540 Washington Ave Kenilworth.
