Bruno Niethe Obituary

Bruno A. Niethe, age 77, of Green Brook formerly of Cranford died at home on January 27, 2018 after a long illness surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on March 18, 1940 to parents Charlotte Dupper and Karl Niethe in Hohenwutzen, Germany. They emigrated to the United States and resided in Newark. He graduated from Weequahic High School in 1958. He married Martha Donovan of South Orange in 1965 and was married for 52 years.

He worked for many years as a tool and die maker specializing in making molds for plastic injection machines. After retiring in 2002 he formed a consulting business as a plastics engineer and was able to travel to Costa Rica and China frequently.

He loved his German heritage and was a member of the Saenger Chor Newark for 60 years. He enjoyed the camaraderie with the members, the rehearsals and performances of the chorus.

He was an avid hunter and a member of the White Game Club in Shohola, PA for many years. He was able to travel to Utah and South Africa with his beloved nephew, Peter Hoefele. The South Africa trip was his “trip of a lifetime”.

He was a devoted and loving father to his daughter, Kris and her husband Carl Gamba of Cranford, his daughter Joelle and her husband Mario Gioioso of Cranford and his son Andrew and his wife Diane Vescovi Niethe of Point Pleasant Beach. He leaves behind his six grandchildren, Katelyn and Michael Gamba, Brian and Mark Gioioso and Rylie and Patrick Niethe. He is also survived by his sister Gertrude Hoefele Striny and her husband Kurt Striny and brother Karl Niethe along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bruno will be sadly missed but forever in our hearts.
