Brian Patrick Maher
June 17, 1978 - January 10, 2022
Brian Patrick Maher passed away comfortably in Morristown, N.J. on January 10, 2022. Brian was born in Rahway, N.J. and raised in Cranford, N.J. where he spent most of his life. He enjoyed the recreational and travel sports teams as a child and was educated in the Cranford Public school system. Brian graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts in 2000. During his time there, he was published in Nu Chi, A Journal of Critical Analysis, was inducted into Sigma Tau Delta National English Honors Society, and was a recipient of the Edward M. Golia Book Award for outstanding performance in Classics. He continued his education at Seton Hall University, where he obtained a Juris Doctor degree in Law in 2006. He went on to work as an Attorney with several law firms in New Jersey, building a specialty in the Medical Malpractice field. Additionally, he enjoyed an active lifestyle filled with pick-up Basketball and Football games, Tennis in the Summers, and was a member of several Softball teams where he was known as a silky-smooth Shortstop. He was an avid reader, had a passion for writing, vacationed often on Nantucket Island with his family, and liked working on a challenging crossword puzzle or playing a game of chess.
Brian very much enjoyed spending time with his friends. He frequently attended live music concerts and sporting events, and he was a devoted fan of the Yankees and the Giants. He loved fishing locally on the Rahway River and would return in those colder Winters when the River would freeze with his Ice Skates and hockey stick. Brian’s competitive nature, ultimate eagerness to learn, and loyal love for his family and friends will always be remembered. Brian is predeceased by his Mother, Dianne and his Father, Larry Maher. He is survived by his Sister, Meghan, his Brother, Patrick Maher and his wife Emilie, their two children Finn and Anna, his Aunt and Uncle Barbara and James Sabo, and his cousins James Sabo, Jr. and Stacey Sabo.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 20th, 2022, at 10 a.m., at St. Genevieve’s Church in Elizabeth, N.J. The family welcomes donations to Derek Jeter’s Turn 2 Foundation as an expression of sympathy instead of flowers - link: https://www.mlb.com/turn-2-foundation/donate/form
