Brian A. Callahan, 62, “Pop-Pop”
Westfield, NJ - Brian Callahan passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on March 18, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was 62 years old.
Brian was born in Kingston, NY on September 8, 1959. He was the fourth child of the late John and Claire Callahan.
Brian was happiest when he was with his family and was known as a devoted father, stepfather, brother, and “Pop-Pop” to his five grandchildren. He grew up down the shore, often sharing stories about his fishing and swimming adventures as a child. Brian was heavily involved in the Branchburg Baseball Club as a coach and president. He also was a longstanding figure in the printing and advertising industry and a tenured employee of Verizon Wireless.
Brian enjoyed an excellent meal, especially with family, and was known to make the best TV series and movie recommendations. Anything that Brian became interested in eventually became a passion, particularly with sports. In late the 2010’s, he formally renounced his status as a Jets fan, but he remained a lifelong Yankees fan. Most recently, he began sport shooting with his sons, and he always enjoyed the outdoors, especially biking and hiking with his wife, Pat.
Brian will be missed by all who knew him. He was a good friend and an even better family man.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Patricia (nee Jahnke) of Westfield; sons, Brian (Tiffany) of Mountainside, Billy (Nicole) of Jersey City, Jesse May (Melissa) of Lambertville; grandchildren, Kaitlin, Jonathan, Thomas, and Nicholas May, all of Lambertville; and Landon Callahan of Mountainside; brothers, Peter (Peggy) of Maine, Michael, and sister, Jean Mc Bride of Texas.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 23 at Higgins & Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave., Westfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Thursday, March 24 at 10:00AM at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 315 1st St. For more information, please visit www.higginsandbonner.com.
