Barbara Burns Obituary

Barbara Ann Burns, of Elizabeth and Manasquan, NJ passed away at the age of 71 in the early morning hours of May 6, 2020 after a brief illness.

Barbara, affectionately referred to as Bobbie, was a proud and lifelong Elizabeth resident before relocating to Monmouth County.  She attended St. Genevieve School and Benedictine Academy High School.  Bobbie also earned her BA degree at Kean University.  She was named the Head Librarian at Anchor Corporation, Elizabeth, NJ where she managed the company’s business library for many years.  Bobbie was also a full time caretaker for her mother and regularly visited her aunts and uncles in their older age to provide support and emotional comfort along with her sister Nancy. She was very actively involved in the lives of her nieces which created a very strong bond and profound friendship.

Bobbie is predeceased by her beloved parent’s Helen and John Paul Burns Sr. and her “Irish twin” brother, Jack Paul Burns Jr.  She is survived by her siblings, Cathy, Nancy (Eugene) and Edward; her nieces Claire, Catie (William), Lauren and her children Zarian and Amora.   Bobbie was a fiercely loyal and loving daughter, niece, sister, aunt, Godmother and friend.  Her determined spirit, compassion and selfless dedication to her family has touched the lives of so many.   Her memory will be cherished by her family and friends.

Funeral arrangements are private and restricted to immediate family only in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.  At a later date, when it is safe to gather, friends and relatives will be invited to attend a celebration of her life.
