Barbara Armstrong Obituary

Barbara Ann Armstrong of Mt Arlington, so loved by family and friends passed away on Monday July 8th.  She was born on Sept 18, 1945 at Overlook in Summit, NJ to parents Elsie and Victor Bergquist(deceased) and grew up in Union with her Brother Victor Bergquist(deceased).

Barbara was a spelling bee winner in her high school years and a pro at math.  After school she continued her love of math by becoming a book keeper / payroll administrator.  She worked for Carnrick Laboratories as a payroll administrator for 22 years.  She then worked for Lakeland Bus Company as a Bus Charter Administrator before retiring to enjoy life with family and friends.

She was a loving friend, Mother, Nana, Aunt, Cousin and Family member to so many.   After retirement she traveled with Bill who was by her side for many years and with her to the very end. She loved spending time with her beloved son, Gary and wife Eileen and adored granddaughters Liv & Leah, Kelly & Rich and grandchildren Branden & Lucas, brother in law Jerry and wife Vanine & daughters Jennifer & Kristy and their families, sister in law Nancy Armstrong(deceased) and her husband Garry Jackson and cousins.

She loved fashion, cooking and always walked in a room with grace.

She had an incredible way of giving and showing love for everyone, by always wanting to be a part of all the family functions, attending grandchildren’s shows and team events.  She had a huge love of the beach and boating. In her 30s she raced the powder puff boat race at the jersey shore. She could be found with the sand between her toes enjoying the sun and enjoying Bruce Springsteen concerts. Her last days were spent at the shore with family and kayaking with her grandchildren in the Silver Bay near her favorite shore home in Toms River NJ.

Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8pm at the Higgins & Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, Westfield.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10am at the funeral home with interment to follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union.

We would also like to request in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to American Heart Association or any organization that is near and dear to your heart.
