Athina Daskalos Obituary

Athina Daskalos passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.


She was 89 years old. Born in Petrina, Greece, to Fotinos and Penelope Panagakos, Athina was the youngest of seven siblings. Her life was defined by faith, devotion, generosity, and an unwavering love for her family.


She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Evangelos “Angelo” Daskalos, and by her siblings Konstantinos “Dino,” Vasiliki, and Sarandos “Sam.” She is survived by her sisters, Amalia and Sophia; her children, Georgia, Efthemia “Effie,” and Dimitrios; her sons- in-law, Christos and Ryan; her cherished grandson, Konstantinos; and many beloved nieces and nephews.


Athina was a beacon of warmth and affection, adored by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was known for her independent spirit, boundless energy, and by compassionate heart. Family was at the center of her life, and she found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved and creating treasured memories that will be cherished for generations to come.


A woman of deep and unwavering faith, Athina was a longtime cherished member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Westfield, New Jersey. Her Greek Orthodox faith and Greek heritage were a source of strength, comfort, and meaning throughout her life. She embraced the traditions of her faith and culture with love, especially during holidays and family gatherings that brought everyone together.


For many years, Athina worked at Jardin Academy, where she helped children with developmental disabilities. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her family and touched the lives of many children and families through her kindness, patience, and care.


Athina also found joy in the simple and beautiful rhythms of home. She was an avid gardener who faithfully tended her vegetable garden and lovingly cared for her flower beds. She was an excellent cook and baker, delighting her family with wonderful meals and the warmth of her kitchen.


Above all, Athina’s greatest passion was her devotion to her family. She was a loving and nurturing mother, aunt, and grandmother whose most cherished role was that of caregiver.


The memories she created with her family—through shared meals, celebrations, traditions,and everyday moments—will remain a lasting gift to all who loved her.Athina will live on in the hearts of all who loved her—in the memories of meals shared around her table, the beauty of her garden, the comfort of her faith, and the love she gave so freely. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, parishioner, and friend, and her presence will be deeply missed. May her memory be eternal, and may she rest in peace, surrounded by eternal love and divine grace
