Arthur E. Schnarr, Jr.

Arthur E. Schnarr Jr., 81, passed away on April 19th 2020. He was the husband of Christine Schnarr. They shared 46 wonderful years of marriage full of laughter and family. 

Arthur was a lifelong resident of Elizabeth, New Jersey. He was born on April 12th 1939 to Arthur Schnarr Sr. and Mary Catherine Schnarr. He was a member of the Air Force and served in the Air Police from 1956-1960. He had a long career as a firefighter later serving as a member of the honor guard, the arson squad and a fire inspector. 

Arthur was an active member of his community. He was a member of St. Genevieve’s Catholic Church and the Emerald Society. He was a longtime coach and mentor for CYO and EYL baseball. Arthur enjoyed golf, summers at the Jersey Shore, crabbing, the New York Mets, and camping with his family. 

Arthur was a loving and gentle man who lived to serve not only his country, but also his family. Arthur is survived by his attentive daughter Sandy, beloved son Arthur, and his dear sister Alice. He was a caring grandfather to five grandchildren - Lisa, Joseph, Christine, Jordan, Ryan, Luke and four great grandchildren Stephen, Luke, Gia, and Allison. He was also the soft-hearted owner of a Boston terrier named Twinkle. 

A private viewing for close family will be held at Higgins and Bonner. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Elizabeth Firefighters FMBA Local 9 24 South Broad Street Elizabeth, NJ in memory of Arthur Schnarr.
