Amado Alejandro "Lalo" Montilla, 56, of Maplewood, New Jersey, passed away on September 5, 2024 after a lengthy illness. Born on September 22, 1967, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Amado emigrated to Brooklyn, New York as a young kid and became a true “New Yorker”. Lalo was known for his vibrant spirit and infectious enthusiasm, characteristics that defined him as the life of the party. His ability to bring joy and laughter to any gathering will be profoundly missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.
An avid fan of the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys (much to the dismay of his friends and family), Lalo’s passion for sports was just one of the many ways he connected with those around him, sharing moments of excitement and camaraderie.
While Amado loved sports nothing could surpass the love he had for his wife and children, he was a proud girl dad (tiara and all).
During the last few years of Amado's life, he endured many challenges due to his illness. Even as he endured countless pain, he maintained a positive attitude and continued to fight. Throughout it all by his side was his wife Stacy, who was steadfast in being his advocate, rock and his support.
Amado (Lalo) was preceded in death by his father Carlos Montilla. He leaves behind to mourn him, his wife Stacy, daughters Amanda and Emma, mother Margarita Morillo, brothers; Carlos, Juan Alfredo (Gringo), Ricky, Carlos Jr. (Carlito), Jacob (grandson), Norma (aunt), countless cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A service to honor Amado’s life will be held at St. Helen's Roman Catholic Church, located at 1600 Rahway Ave., Westfield, NJ 07090, with internment to follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery & Mausoleum, 53 Inman Avenue, Colonia, NJ 07067.
His loved ones will gather to celebrate the bright life and enduring impact of a man who was truly larger than life itself. His legacy of joy and laughter will continue to inspire and uplift those he has left behind.
