Alberta Simone (nee: Ferko), 85, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, NJ, on Dec. 3, 2022.
Alberta was an adored wife, beloved mother and cherished grandmother. Born in Elizabeth, NJ on June 2, 1937, Alberta resided there until moving to Linden, NJ, in 1974. In 2004, she retired to Cranbury, NJ with her husband Joe. She held many roles throughout her life from homemaker to office assistant to helping at her daughters’ dance studio, and in her retirement, performing baby and dog sitting duties for friends. Alberta enjoyed spending time with her family and her friends in K. Hov Four Seasons Cranbury. She was a great listener with a wry sense of humor. She was an avid reader, enjoyed watching movies and solving puzzles & crosswords. She especially loved organizing reunions for her Battin High School class, bringing her classmates together on a regular basis for more than 50 years.
Alberta was predeceased by her parents, Albert W. Ferko and Helen Benko; and by her daughter, Diane Conway Socha.
She is survived by her husband Joseph Simone, her daughter Karen McNamara, son-in-law Thomas and grandson Brian McNamara. She is also survived by her stepsons, Paul Simone and his wife Deena, and Steve Simone and his partner Alexis, and step-grandchildren Joseph, Trista, Paula & Marlana and their families.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 8, from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave., Westfield, NJ. A Mass will be held on Friday, Dec. 9, at 10 a.m. at St. Helen RC Church in Westfield, NJ. Interment to follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
