Thomas A. Castellone died peacefully on Thursday, June 22, 2017, surrounded by his family. Mr. Castellone was born in The Bronx, NY on September 6th, 1923. He had lived in Westfield for the past 52 years and enjoyed summers in Silver Beach, N.J. Tom was deeply devoted to his family. His greatest joy was spending time and laughing with his children, grandchildren and friends. It was his unconditional love, spirit, kindness and sense of humor that people knew and admired most.
Tom was raised in The Bronx, NY, by Thomas and Louisa Castellone, with his siblings, Rose, Richard, Dorothy, Madeline, Phyllis, Anthony and Eugene. He enlisted in the Navy and served during World War II on the USS Boston. He worked for the New York Telephone Company in New York, NY for 40 years, where he met his wife. They were married in Hillside, N.J. and later moved to Westfield, where he was a member of Holy Trinity Parish.
Tom is predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Anne M. Castellone; his three daughters, Melaine, Kate, and Mary Fehrnstrom and her husband, Paul; his one son, Thomas M. Castellone, and his wife, Rose Mary, as well as six deeply cherished grandchildren, Tara and Andrew Castellone, Grant Bode IV and Grace, Sarah and Jack Fehrnstrom, and great-grandchild, Liam. He also leaves his brother Anthony, and his wife Alberta, many nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
The family would like to thank friends, neighbors, and the Westfield Rescue Squad, for their care and support – it means more to us than you will ever know. He will be missed each and every day and we hope you hold a special memory of him in your heart.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Avenue in Westfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Westfield Rescue Squad, 335 Watterson Street, Westfield, N.J. 07091, would be greatly appreciated.
