Theresia Wolz (nee Lippert)
Theresia Wolz (nee Lippert) of Mountainside, NJ passed away peacefully on April 16, 2019 in the company of her family and loved ones. She was 79.
Terry was born on June 20, 1939 to August and Theresia (nee Feilmeier) Lippert in Brooklyn, NY, both of whom predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her husband of 48 years (married June 28, 1958), Erich Wilhelm Wolz, Sr.
A graduate of Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood, NY, Terry had many hobbies, interests and activities, including singing with the Brooklyn Knaben- und Maedchen Chor (Brooklyn Boys and Girls Chorus); she went on to become a member of the chorus’ Hilfsverein when her sons began singing with the chorus in later years. She was also a member and active supporter of the Bayern Verein Newark Schuhplattler Verein for 43 years.
Terry enjoyed bowling, where she met her Schwesterl (“adopted sister”) Doris Benkert, forging a friendship between the families that continues to endure more than 50 years later. In addition, Terry spent time volunteering on the Mountainside Rescue Squad and delivering for Meals on Wheels. She was very active in her church, Our Lady of Lourdes, in Mountainside, NJ, serving as a Eucharistic Adorer where she served on the early morning shift.
The bonds of family were always important to Terry, as she was always involved in the activities of her children. You would always find Oma on the soccer field sidelines cheering on all her grandchildren. There wasn’t a concert, awards night, or graduation that you didn’t see Oma.
She is survived by her three sons, Erich, Jr. (Karen), Michael (Alison) and Andreas (Lori) and 9 grandchildren; Erich III, Christian, Bryan, Jesse, Evan, Megan, Gregory, Alexander and Christopher.
Visitation will take place on Monday, April 22, 2019, from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Higgins & Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave., Westfield, NJ.
