Paula A. Caponetti

Paula A. Caponetti, née D’Agostini, passed away peacefully at the Center for Hope in Scotch Plains, surrounded by her family on April 8, 2018. 

Paula was born in Newark, NJ on September 2, 1949 to the late Dr. Robert and Catherine D’Agostini. She grew up in South Orange, NJ and graduated from Marylawn of the Oranges High School.  Paula went on to graduate from Georgetown University, School of Foreign Service in 1971.  At Georgetown, Paula met the love of her life and future husband, Richard.

Paula worked for the federal government, Department of Housing and Urban Development prior to starting a family. While juggling her three children, Paula managed her husband’s medical practice for over 20 years. Thereafter, she followed her passion for interior decorating. In 2003, she founded Paula Caponetti Designs, a full-service interior design company. 

In addition to Richard, her devoted and loving husband of 47 years, Paula leaves behind her beloved children Liza Gambello (Carl), Richard Caponetti (Anna), and Christopher Caponetti (Abby); eight grandchildren: Jack, Nicolas, Devan, and Brooke Gambello; Thea, Kal, and Annika Caponetti; and baby William Caponetti; six beloved siblings: Catherine D’Agostini Fahey, Valerie D’Agostini Byrne, Bob D’Agostini, Lisa D’Agostini Hall, Claire D’Agostini Schwartz, and John D’Agostini; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Higgins and Bonner Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave., Westfield, NJ, on Thursday, April 12, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Helen’s Roman Catholic Church, 1600 Rahway Ave., Westfield, on Friday, April 13 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for children (donate.lovetotherescue.org) and Center For Hope Hospice & Palliative Care (cfhh.org)
