Patricia Mary Richel

Patricia Mary Richel of Point Pleasant Beach, NJ, passed away on January 9th at the age of 81 years old. 

Born in Newark and raised in Springfield, Patricia spent most of her years in New Providence raising her family and then spent her retirement in Point Pleasant Beach. 

Patricia received her R.N. degree at St Michael’s Hospital in Newark, her B.S. from Seton Hall University, and her Master’s Degree from Montclair University. She has worked in many areas of nursing and also as a school nurse/health educator and adjunct professor. During her retirement she traveled the world with her husband, spent as much time at the beach when she was home and volunteered at her granddaughters schools. Also, she wrote three children’s books with her granddaughter, Faith, who illustrated them. Most importantly she cherished time with her family and friends. 

Surviving is her husband of 52 years Anthony Richel, children Elizabeth Donnelly and her husband Martin, Linda Turnbach and her husband Michael, and grandchildren Faith, Grace, Jack and Kara. 

Visitation will be from 1 to 4 PM on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave., Westfield, NJ. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 13, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Gertrude’s Cemetery in Colonia, NJ.
