Nancy (Walsh) Serio was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1926 and lived her 91 years filled with love and laughter that she showered upon her friends and family.
Nancy and her husband raised their two daughters in Mountainside, NJ where she actively spent her time in community service. As a young woman, Nancy was a choreographer and costume designer and used these creative talents in her volunteer work. She was a past president of the Mountainside Music Association, a performer in the benefit shows for Overlook Hospital and produced and directed many fund raising performances for charitable organizations including Our Lady of Lourdes Church. She was an active volunteer for the New Jersey Ballet and New Jersey Symphony, a Unit leader for the Washington Rock Girl Scout Council, taught future Girl Scout leaders and served many years on the PTA.
Nancy loved to travel and with her young daughters spent summers traveling all through the US and Canada. As years passed she traveled throughout the world with family and friends for many months out of each year. Nancy will always be remembered for her laughter, love of life and passion to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Nancy was predeceased by her husband, sister and beloved daughter, Lisa. She is survived by her adoring daughter, Dawn, cherished grandson Thomas and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting will be on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 8:30 am to 10 am at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave, Westfield, NJ immediately followed by a 10:30 Mass at The Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity in Westfield and Entombment at St. Gertrude’s in Colonia, NJ.
