Mary Schwab

Mary Schwab (née Fontan), 87, of Westfield, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2019 surrounded by her family.

Mary was born and raised in Elizabeth N.J. and graduated from St. Patrick’s High School. After 30 years of working as a bank financial officer she retired, only to then spend another 15 years working at the Short Hills Hilton gift shop.

Mary loved to socialize and would attend many events with her church community. 
She thoroughly enjoyed traveling with her sisters, spending her summers at the beach cottage, loved to dance, listen to music and go shopping. However, she loved spending time with her family most of all. 

Mary is predeceased by her parents Johanna Fontan (née Baranowski) and Felix Fontan, her brother Joseph Fontan Sr. and her husband George Schwab. 

She is survived by her sisters Josephine Vecchione of Tinton Falls and Dorothy Schulze of Brielle, her three daughters Diane Pescatore and husband Joseph of Mountainside, Linda Santry and husband Daniel of Westfield and Maryann Perkins and husband Thomas of Westfield. She is the loving grandmother of Daniel Jr., Matthew and Joseph Santry and Jessica Perkins, beloved aunt to Joseph Fontan Jr., Donna McArdle and many great nieces and nephews.

Mary’s beautiful smile and laughter will be sorely missed by all. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 from 3 to 7 PM at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave., Westfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 10:00AM at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church in Mountainside. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
