As a wise man said at hearing of Maeve’s passing, “You can’t be sad because you know she’s living her dream up there!” Maeve CaiYun Cullinan, age 11, passed gently into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father at 10:50 AM on May 5th after a long battle with brain cancer. She leaves behind her loving mother, Mary Kate Cullinan, her dearest sister, Danielle ChongPan Cullinan and her beloved grandmother, Marianne Cullinan and of course her constant companion Kitty.
She is loved by all. Her outgoing personality lit up rooms because Maeve didn’t know any strangers. They were just friends she hadn’t met yet. Maeve’s love of purple was known far and wide as well as her obsession with My Little Pony and Pokémon, thrill rides like roller coasters and waterslides. Maeve could turn her hand to anything and succeed. She was a fantastic cook, loved Legos, Minecraft, jigsaw puzzles and coloring. She loved to sing, her mom was her biggest fan, she loved musicals, especially Annie, The Wiz and Barnum. She was super smart and loved to learn especially her class in Greek Mythology and about her Chinese heritage. She didn’t let her cancer get her down but continued to live her life to the fullest. She loved her life long friends that she made at Camp Friendship and Holt Camp. Maeve adored and was comforted by her Catholic faith and had an especially deep love for our Blessed Mother Mary who she is with now.
John 1:5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. Maeve is in the light!
The wake will be held on May 10th from 4 to 8 PM at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave., Westfield. The funeral will be held on May 11th at 10:00 AM at St. Genevieve’s RC Church in Elizabeth.
