Lore McDonald (nee Gorenflo)

Lore McDonald (75) of Mountainside, NJ passed peacefully on Friday, June 21, 2019 at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ following a short fight with illness.
Born to Arthur and Gertrude Gorenflo (nee Mutschler) in Freiburg, Germany, Lore moved to New Jersey in 1964, where she established a reputation as a caring member of the community, a thoughtful teacher and a life-loving entertainer.
She was a Kindergarten teacher at St. Joseph’s School in East Orange, NJ. In addition, she taught intensive German courses to senior corporate executives while employed with In-house, Inlingua and Berlitz Language Schools in Summit, NJ.
Professionally trained in delicatessen products in her native Germany, Lore loved to entertain friends and family with home cooked meals and even enjoyed the occasional glass of sherry. Known for her radiant smile and endearing sense of humor, she was always the life of the party.
Extremely generous and warm-hearted, Lore was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and a wonderful friend to many. She was also an active member of the International Club for many years.
Lore is survived by her siblings, Inge Bareis (Karl) and Klaus Gorenflot (Elke); her children, Carolyn Kircher (Steve) and Denice Schmidt (Matt); and her grandchildren, Christian, Kyle, Danielle, Keith, George and Caroline.
The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Bartholomew’s Church in Scotch Plains, NJ on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 10am.
