Lawrence H. Prybylski III (Skip)

Mr. Lawrence H. Prybylski III, Skip, died peacefully on June 7, 2019 in Summit, NJ at the age of seventy-seven.  

Skip was born on December 28, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois to Lawrence and Elizabeth Prybylski.  He grew up in Garden City, NY and graduated from Garden City High School in 1959.  Skip graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in 1963 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Accounting.  He married Margaret (Petie) Cantine on November 28, 1964 in Southhampton, NY.  During their fifty-five years of marriage, they were blessed with four boys and thirteen grandchildren. Skip and Petie raised their four boys in South Salem, NY and Westfield, NJ before settling into Mountainside, NJ. 

Skip began his career in 1963 as a financial accountant with Haskins and Sells.  Skip held numerous senior finance officer positions across his career with his final employment at American Surgisite.  Skip also served in the New York Army National Guard.  

Lacrosse was Skip’s sports passion.  He played for Garden City High School and the College of Holy Cross.  Skip was a cofounder of the Westfield Lacrosse Club and its President for many years.  Thousands of Westfield youth have and continue to, enjoy the game of lacrosse because of Skip’s passion and commitment.    

He enjoyed coaching and teaching the life lessons experienced through sports. Skip was a vocal fan and active attendee of Westfield varsity sports. He was a member and President of the Westfield Boosters and was inducted into the Westfield Booster’s Hall of Fame in 2018.  

Skip was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes in Mountainside, NJ and found significant strength in his faith.  

Skip’s greatest love was for his family and the simple pleasures of encouraging and supporting his sons and grandchildren in their many activities. Skip and Petie’s passion for family was experienced by all that they touched.

Skip is survived by his wife, Petie; his son Hank, and wife, Mary Jane; his son Mark, and wife, Chris; his son Todd, and wife, Fran; his son Matt, and wife, Kristen; his sister Judy, and her husband Warren; and his brother Jim, and his predeceased wife, Kay. Skip and Petie are the loving Grandparents to thirteen grandchildren: Molly, Peter, Luke, William, Owen, Ellie, Mack,Kasey, Timmy, Daly, Patrick, Kevin and Liam.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, June 11thfrom 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Higgins Bonner Funeral Home located at 582 Springfield Avenue, Westfield, NJ.  A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, June 12th at 10:00am at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 315 1st Street, Westfield, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Skip’s memory tothe Hereditary Neuropathy Foundation (www.hnf-cure.org).
