John A. D’Auria, 93, passed away on Sunday, May 27th, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Hoboken, New Jersey to Sophia (Migliaro) and Frank D’Auria on October 23rd, 1924, John was the youngest of 11 children. He earned a business degree and worked for Lehigh Valley Railroad/Conrail for 40 years. After retiring as the Vice President of Sales for the Eastern Seaboard he started a second career in sales with his daughter, Doreen.
John was an avid golfer, who loved the game and could be found playing every Saturday. He also had a devout faith and served at the Eucharistic Chapel and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a faithful attendee of Our Lady of Lourdes in Mountainside, New Jersey.
When asked of his children, “How Would You Describe Your Father?”
Dad was a man who faithfully lived with high moral and spiritual values. Dad never let us or any other person down. He fulfilled any obligation he ever undertook. His work was his bond and everybody knew it. We never heard him tell a lie. When faced with overbearing life issues he stayed strong and moved forward, never wallowing in grief or asking, “Why me?” “We’ll Make It Happen” was his motto.
John is survived by his loving wife Rose (Zampaglione) of 71 years; his daughters; Mary Karen (Robert) and Doreen (Robert “RB”), as well as his grandchildren; Anthony (Trisha) and Nicholas (Maria) and great grandchildren; Marco and Gino. He is predeceased by his son: John Vincent.
Visitation will be held at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home 582 Springfield Avenue, Westfield, New Jersey 07090, on Wednesday, May 30th from 4:00pm – 8:00pm.
