Jerry “Big Jer” Ramos
Husband, Father, Grandfather,
Broker & Founder of Ramos Real Estate
Jerry, age 75, passed away at home, peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, December 28, 2018. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 30, 2018 from 1:00 to 5:30 PM at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave., Westfield. Born in Newark, NJ, to parents Mary and Joe Ramos, he attended East Side High School where he excelled in football. After 19 years as a truck driver he became a part-time real estate agent, then fulltime. In 1985, at age 40, he and his wife, Diane, opened Ramos Real Estate and ran a successful business which is now run by his son Tom. After retiring from Ramos he went on to become an “extra” in many TV shows and in movies. He had a love of history. One of his passions was collecting memorabilia from Olympic Park Amusement Park about which he acquired a movie reel, which he would bring to senior citizen events for their amusement. He was a stark Democrat and loved nothing better than a political debate. His love for his family was ever present. He never missed sporting events of his grandsons, Mikey and Danny and never tired of chasing Tommy around or just holding Joey. He lived his life with courage, confidence and determination, always with new ideas and an attitude that the word “no” does not hurt. Although he was sad to leave, he had no regrets. He leaves his wife and best friend Diane (Reilly), his son Tom and wife Jennie (Berlinski), his son Michael, granddaughter Amanda Greene and grandsons, Mikey, Danny, Tommy and Joey. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Kenilworth Rescue Squad or Community Food Bank of NJ.
