Jeronimo Duran Obituary

Jeronimo Duran, 93 Born April 10th 1924 in Antilla Cuba, peacefully entered into eternal rest on February 12th, 2018.     He grew up in Havana Cuba.  A successful travelling salesman who loved life and  adventuring all over his beautiful island.  Son of Maria Casabon & Sebastian Duran.  Brother of Maria Dolores & Yolanda.   He married Maria Sosa, with whom they shared three beautiful children Maria Duran, Marcia Lange & Jeronimo Duran.  Immigrated to the United States, land of the free in 1968, leaving his family and all that he knew behind. Despite leaving it all behind, in him still resonated the desire to progress and be an outstanding citizen of the United States as he was in Cuba.  He  settled in Elizabeth, NJ where he met his beautiful wife Oneida Rojas & her son the late Raul Ferrin.  They married and through their  love  were blessed with Richard Duran.  Jeronimo was a respected businessman in Elizabeth, NJ where he and his wife’s goals were to help Hispanics voices be heard, understand the importance of exercising their freedom to vote and be contributing citizens of this country which he loved so very much. One of his most proudest moments was becoming a United States Citizen.  He was blessed with many grandchildren;   Henry, Andres, Daniel, Laura, Gabriel, Raquel, Adriana, Alex, Lisette, J. Anthony, Taylor, Jeremy & Jacob.  He had one great-grandchild also named Jacob.  “Duran” or “Abuelo Duran” as most of us called him, was proud of his children and family.  He loved telling stories of his life experiences In Cuba & how he came to the US.  Through the stories his family & friends had the opportunity to relive what many may not experience in a lifetime.  He will be forever missed and his legacy will be carried though his family for years to come.   May the Lord comfort and hold you in his arms until the day we meet again.
