James E. Tressitt, Jr., son of James and Carmella Tressitt, was born on December 1, 1944, in Jeannette, Pennsylvania. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, December 9th, 2019.
Jim met Evelyn Bonelli, the love of his life and wife of 36 years on a vacation in Nassau, Bahamas. Together, they had three children, Rachel Elizabeth, Joseph James, and Julia Rose. They started their family in Schaumburg, Illinois and later relocated to Westfield, NJ. Jim was a devoted father to his children including his oldest son, Stephen Craig and his daughter-in-law, Amy. Jim was the proud grandfather of Sierra, Gage, Mya and Alex and their families, loving uncle to eight nieces, six nephews and many grand nieces and nephews.
Jim also leaves behind his sisters Eleanor Cribbs, Marie Casino, and Rosann Rebo, his father-in-law, Rosario Bonelli, his brother-in-law, Joseph Bonelli and his wife, Carol, his Aunt Carolyne, his Uncle Tony and their families along with many wonderful cousins and friends.
Jim was a veteran, having served his country in the Air Force. He was retired from a career in the wines and spirits industry. He was an avid golfer, loved fine dining, great wine, music, dancing and enjoyed a good cigar. Over the years, his favorite cars included Cadillac Escalades, a red Corvette and his very favorite, a midnight green Maserati. Traveling to sunny destinations, watching movies, cooking his favorite meals and spending time with family, friends and his furry companions Rocky, Vito, Sonny, and Bruno, were the things he loved most. Jim’s playful personality, love of life and great sense of humor brought joy to all. In recent years, he was dubbed “Jim the Gem” with a loyal following. He enjoyed spiritual life at both Saint Helen’s and Holy Trinity and he truly cherished the holidays.
A Memorial Mass will be held for Jim at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 13th at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 315 First Street, Westfield, NJ 07090
