On Tuesday, January 15th, 2019 James Edward Butler, beloved son, brother, and uncle passed away at the age of 57.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 21, 2019 from 4 to 8 PM at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 592 Springfield Ave., Westfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 10:00AM at St. Genevieve’s RC Church in Elizabeth.
Jim was born on September 6, 1961, in Elizabeth, NJ to Jean and Kenneth Butler. He attended schools in Elizabeth, graduating from St. Patrick’s High School and then went on to pursue a career as a chef, eventually taking a position at Monmouth University and settling in Monmouth County where he could be close to his mother.
Jim will be missed by all who knew him, especially his mom. He is also survived by four siblings, William, Michael, Maryjean and, Kathy. His many nieces and nephews could never forget his unending display of kindness and solicitude. He is predeceased by his father and his brother Tom.
Jim was loved and admired for his calm spirit and his willingness to always lend a helping hand when needed. He will be remembered for his untiring sense of responsibility and devotion to his family and friends and there is a special place in the heart of those who had the exceptional privilege of knowing him.
