James B. Flynn
James B. Flynn, 72, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2019. He was born on September 23, 1946 in Girardville, PA to Leo J. and Ethel (Mills) Flynn. He grew up in Westfield, NJ and graduated from Holy Trinity High School in1964. Jim graduated from Villanova University School of Business in 1968. He served in the US Army from 1969-1970. After returning to New Jersey, Jim received his law degree from Seton Hall Law School in 1973. He then opened his law office in Westfield and practiced there throughout his long career.
Jim belonged to Echo Lake Country Club where he served on the Board of Trustees and enjoyed many rounds of golf. He was active in the Westfield Baseball Association and coached the summer travel team for years. He was also an avid Villanova basketball fan.
Jim married Peggy Jones on March,1969 in Watchung, NJ. They raised their four children in Westfield, NJ. He enjoyed being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and friends. He is survived by his wife, Peggy, his daughter, Amy Wojcik and her husband Randy, his daughter, Beth Nurnberger and her husband Scott, his son, Stephen and his wife Hannah, his daughter Meghan Martin and her husband Gregg; his sister, Jule Foley and her late husband, Pete, his sister, MaryKay Michalczak and her husband Bob, his brother Bob and his wife Barbara, his brother Leo and his wife Herbie, and many nieces and nephews. Jim was Grandpa to Emma, Quinn, Maeve and Molly Wojcik, Kelsey Nurnberger, Lilly, Shea, Liam, and Teddy Flynn, and Connor and Jack Martin.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, August 20, from 4 to 8 pm at Higgins & Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home located at 582 Springfield Ave, Westfield, NJ. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, August 21 at 11 am at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 315 First Street, Westfield, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jim’s memory to the Echo Lake Provident Fund, Echo Lake Country Club , 515 Springfield Avenue, PO Box 399, Westfield, NJ. 07090.
