Humberto Alvarez

Humberto Alvarez, age 89, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 7:14pm

surrounded by family and friends. Born December 1, 1928 in Cuba, it was there that he married

his beloved Marta (Gonzalez) Alvarez and together they moved to the US in 1967. Shortly after,

they settled in Elizabeth where he became the proud owner of La Copa Hardware Store on

Elizabeth Avenue. He ran a successful business for over 40 years which allowed him the

opportunity to provide for his entire family and help countless number of friends. His example of

humility, generosity, immense kindness and hard work are the staple of his legacy. He was a

devoted husband to his wife of 60 years and most loving father to their only son, Humberto,

daughter in law, Anelys, and three granddaughters, Melissa, Meagan, and Michelle. He will be

missed. Rest in peace our dear Humberto.
