It is with both sadness and a deep sense of serenity that we share that our beloved Gary Irwin Kuperman passed away peacefully early on the morning of June 29th from complications of a spinal cord injury he sustained in mid-May. He was 78, a few weeks shy of 79.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law and brother, Gary was a proud US Marine, an avid photographer, a history buff, and a loyal NY Mets fan to the end. He was incredibly hard-working and was set to officially retire on June 28th.
We are deeply inspired by Gary who led his life practically, simply, and full of humor, and especially by the strength and courage with which he tackled the numerous challenges he encountered in his final weeks.
Gary is survived by his wife of 53 years, Roberta (Bobby); his daughter Dana, his son Jamie, and their respective families: Max, Sadie (9); Danielle, Easton (8) and Hope (5).
The funeral will be held Monday morning at 11am Higgins & Bonner in Westfield, NJ, followed by an interment at Mount Lebanon Cemetery in Iselin, NJ. Shiva will take place from 2-8 pm at the family home in Mountainside
Donations can be made in Gary’s name to the Semper Fi Fund dedicated to providing assistance to combat wounded, critically ill and catastrophically injured members of all branches of the US Armed Forces and their families.
With deepest gratitude for all our blessings,
The family of Gary Kuperman
