Francis Vincent Doran, Jr., 69, of Roselle Park, N.J. went to his eternal rest on Thursday, October 26, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

A funeral mass celebrating Frank’s life will be held at St. Genevieve’s Catholic Church in Elizabeth, N.J. on Monday, October 30 at 11:00 a.m.  Visitation will be Sunday, October 29, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave, Westfield, N.J.  Cremation will be private.

Born and raised in Elizabeth, N.J., Frank lived in Roselle Park, N.J. since 1987.  A graduate of St. Genevieve’s E.S., Thomas Jefferson H.S., and Kean University, he was employed by the Elizabeth Board of Education for over 30 years as a Physical Education teacher and School Counselor for drug education.  He was also a member of the U.S. Army National Guard.

Being an avid sports fan, he enjoyed coaching his school teams and he took great pleasure in actively cheering on his nieces and nephews in their sporting endeavors.

During his retirement, his activities included volunteering at the Center For Hope Hospice and the Veteran’s Hospital.  Whether traveling by car, bike or on foot, he enjoyed the adventure of discovering new places and things.

Frank was predeceased by his parents, Kathleen (nee Madden) and Francis V. Doran Sr.  He is survived by his beloved girlfriend, Barbara Timpano of Woodland Park; his loving siblings Joan (John) McLaughlin of Kearny, Kathleen (Richard) Lally of Cranford, Mary Doran of Cranford, John (Sue A.) Doran of Toms River and Peggy (Rich) Lowes of Manasquan.  He was cherished by his nieces and nephews, Julie (Jason) Schmidt, Jill McLaughlin (Matt Mandel), Jennifer McLaughlin, John (Carol) Doran, Brian Doran, Elizabeth Lowes and Samantha Lowes.  He was also adored by his great-nieces, Maggie Mandel, Annie Mandel, and Emily Schmidt.

Frank was dearly loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
