Edna Mary Farrell (nee Spirito), 81, of Elizabeth, NJ, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, in the company of family. A lifelong resident of Elizabeth, Edda, as she was named at birth, was the daughter of Michele and Guissepina Spirito, and the youngest sister of Luca Spirito, Dr. Anthony Spirito, Mary (Spirito) Battenhausen, and Leo Spirito, all of whom preceded her in death. After raising her children, Edna returned to teaching and was an educator in the Elizabeth Public School system for many years. She was also active in the church, including serving as a Eucharistic Minister and Helping Hands volunteer, but she most enjoyed spending time with her family.

Farrell, and is survived by her six children, daughters Susan Farrell (Holland), JoEllen Donzella (Mark), Ann Hart (Glenn), and MaryBeth (Gary Sluck), sons Martin Farrell (Laura) and John Farrell (SuEllen), and by eleven grandchildren, one great grandson, many relatives, and countless friends.
