Ida “Edie” Jaskot
Loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Parish secretary for 45 years.
Ida “Edie” Carretta Jaskot of Kenilworth, N.J. passed away Monday, February 18, 2019 at Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains, N.J. surrounded by her family. She was born on April 17, 1928 in Torrington, Ct., and raised in Newark, N.J.,graduating from Central High School in 1946. She lived in Kenilworth for 64 years and spent 45 happy years as the parish secretary at St. Theresa’s Church.
Edie was predeceased by her loving husband Stanley and four brothers. She is survived by daughters, Lauren and husband Rocco Racano; Denise and husband Gerard Radice; son Stanley and husband Loren Greenen; grandchildren, Michael Racanoand wife Tara; Stephen and fiancée Melissa; Jeffrey and wife Carly; Stephen and Ryan Radice; and four great-grandchildren.
Edie loved playing Mah-Jongg, golf, tennis, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She was involved in numerous church activities including the annual St. Theresa’s Carnival, the Theresians, and planning several church pilgrimages.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 on Wednesday, February 20th at St. Theresa’s Church, 541 Washington Ave., Kenilworth, N.J. Visiting hours are Tuesday, February 19th, 4 to 8 p.m. at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave., Westfield, N.J.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to caregivers Shelly Steiger and Florence Griffiths for enabling Edie to live her life in the home she loved with dignity. The family is also indebted to the services provided by the Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains, N.J. for creating an environment of comfort and compassion for both the patient and their family.
