Chester Mosco Obituary

Chester “Celestino” R. Mosco, age 94, passed away on May 3, 2018, in the company of his loving family. He was born in Dudley, Pennsylvania on October 18, 1923, the youngest of five children of Giuditta and Panfilo Mosca of Abruzzi, Italy. The family resided in Summit, New Jersey.

Celestino was predeceased by his older siblings Louie, Sue, Jean, and Marino.

He was a graduate of Summit High School and The New York School of Art (Parsons). He served in the Army Air Force during World War II as a Private First Class Airplane and Engine Mechanic.

Celestino married Marziella (Margie) Rego on September 5, 1948, and resided together at their Kenilworth residence for 64 years. He worked for AIRCO in Murray Hill as an Engineering and Design Draftsman for 40 years.

He is survived by wife Margie, daughter Diana and son-in-law John Davidowitch, daughter Mary Ann and son-in-law Mark Raimondi, son Chester and daughter-in-law Patricia, grandchildren Nicole Smith (Davidowitch) and husband Jason Smith, Mark Nicholas Raimondi, Cecelia and Christina Mosco, and great grandchildren Giana Diana and Anthony John Smith.

Celestino had a love for his family and his Italian heritage, and enjoyed wine, food, gardening, painting, drawing, playing guitar, and golfing.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Higgins and Bonner Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Avenue in Westfield, on Monday, May 7, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.

A Catholic Burial Mass will take place at The Church of Saint Theresa, 541 Washington Avenue in Kenilworth, on Tuesday, May 8th at 10:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, please have an authentic Italian dinner in his honor.
