Peter Mochun

Peter Mochun was the beloved son of the late Pearl & Petro Mochun and was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 19, 1955.  He graduated from Cranford High School and was accepted to work Union County Golf Courses, including Galloping Hill Golf Course, where he worked as a groundskeeper, specializing as a greenskeeper for 36 years until his retirement.

He was baptized at St Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church in Elizabeth where he was a loyal parishioner for many years before becoming a faithful parishioner at St Theresa RC Catholic Church in Kenilworth.

Peter was a mainstay in Kenilworth and looked forward to and loved his daily walks "uptown" to visit, shop & help out as many local businesses as the unofficial "town concierge."  If a convenience store needed tasks to be done, or if a restaurant needed fliers to be handed out, or needed a food item to be delivered, or if a hair salon or other types of business needed fliers to be handed out, Peter was always happy to lend a hand. With his friendly disposition and kindness, over a period of many years, he created his own social community and friendships in town where his loving nature and generosity were very much appreciated, and he will be greatly ,missed by his many friends.

Peter is survived by his loving sisters, Ann (Dr Fred) Vitale; Rose (Charles) Breuninger; Cynthia Mochun (partner, Dr Larry Antonucci) and Sonia (Peter) Best;  loving aunt, Sonia Puorro; nephews, Richard (Tonya)Vitale, Steven (Kelly), Chris (Michelle) Vitale, Russell (Ann) Breuninger, Randall Breuninger, Tucker Best & grandnephews Jacob Vitale, Ana Vitale, Kenny Vitale, Lynn Vitale, Victor Vitale, Vaughan Vitale, Dillon Breuninger, Gavin Breuninger & Zachary Brueninger.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10-12pm at the Higgins and Bonner Funeral Home, 528 Springfield Ave, Westfield, NJ.  Funeral Mass will be on Thursday at 10:30am at St Theresa RC Church, Kenilworth.  Family & friends will meet at the church on Thursday at 10:15am.  Entombment will follow at St Gertrudes Cemetery, Colonia.
