Catherine Clarke Devine passed away on May 4, 2012 at her residence in Westfield, NJ; she was born in New York City, and grew up in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan. She
worked for the New York Stock Exchange from 1937 until 1945, when she married Joseph J. Devine of Bayonne, N.J. and moved to Bayonne. She and her husband then moved to Elizabeth, N.J., where they resided until his death in 1996, and where she remained until moving to Westfield in 2002. Catherine is also predeceased by a son, John. Catherine also worked for nine years as a bookkeeper at the rectory of St. Genevieve's Church in Elizabeth, where she and her family had also been devoted parishioners for many years. She was a long-time member of the Rosary Society, the Roselle Golf Club in Roselle, N.J., and the Suburban Golf Club in Union, N.J. She is survived by two sons -- Kevin J. of Wheaton, Illinois and Joseph E. of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - and four grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday from 7 to 9 PM at the Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave in Westfield, NJ. Mass will be on Tuesday at 10 AM at St. Genevieve RC Church in Elizabeth, Burial to Follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
