Sarantos Panagakos

Sarantos “Sam” Panagakos of Cranford NJ passed away on Sept 26, 2017. Viewings will be at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home in Westfield on Friday Sept 29thfrom 3 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Trisagion service at 7:30 p.m. His funeral will be at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Westfield on Saturday, Sept. 30th at 10 am.Family and friends are all to meet at church on Saturday morning with interment at Fairview Cemetery.  Born in 1926, the son of Fotinos and Penelope Panagakos of Petrina, Greece, he was a proud Spartan, an amazing gardener and enjoyed wrestling and westerns.  Sam ran the Foursome Diner in Rahway and later the Park Coffee Shop in Roselle Park with his brother-in-law Angelo Daskalos.   He is predeceased by his loving wife Irene.  His sisters Sofia Karras, Amalia Angelakos and Athena Daskalos survive him along with his children, Katherine, Nicholas and Fotinos and son-in-law, Michael Sokoloski,daughters-in-law Kristen and Judith and his beloved grandchildren Andreas, Alexandra, Mikos, Melina and Elyse. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 250 Gallows Hill Rd, Westfield, NJ 07090.
