Ruth B. Nelson

Ruth Barbara Nelson died on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Westfield, New Jersey.  Mrs. Nelson was a long time resident of Summit, N. J. prior to moving to Sunrise.  Mrs. Nelson was born in Jersey City on November 11, 1918 and lived in Newark prior to moving in Union, New Jersey.  She is predeceased by her husband Thomas Nelson.  Mrs. Nelson is survived by a daughter, Patricia McFall.  She is also survived by three grandchildren and their spouses:  David McFall and his wife Yumiko, Terry Keller and her husband John, Susan Isaacman and her husband Michael.  Mrs. Nelson had four great-grandchildren: Ryan Keller, Lindsay Keller, Emily Isaacman and Jillian Isaacman.  Mrs. Nelson worked as a secretary and claims adjuster for Kemper Insurance and Chubb Insurance.  Mrs. Nelson volunteed at Sage Thrift Shop in Summit.  She was named Sage Volunteer of the Year in 1994.  Mrs. Nelson was an avid swimmer at the “Y”, ballroom dancer for many years, and painter of ceramics.  Mrs. Nelson loved to travel around the world visiting countries such as China, Russia, and Europe.  Visitation will be on July 18th from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with her funeral immediately following at the Higgins & Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home Westfield, N.J.    She will be interred at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, New Jersey.  Donations can be made to Sage Eldercare, Summit, N. J. in Ruth’s name.
