Owen V. Brennan

Owen Brennan died at home on December 28, 2016 surrounded by his loving wife and family.  He was 96.  Born in County Roscommon, Ireland on April 2, 1920, Owen emigrated to the United States in 1948. 

Owen lived in North Bergen, NJ for over 20 years and was employed as a steamfitter by Maxwell House in Hoboken, NJ.  Upon his retirement in 1985, he moved to Manchester NJ and was an active member of the Leisure Knoll retirement community.  Owen was an avid golfer who played the game until he was 90.  The last five years of his life were spent at Brighton Gardens in Mountainside, NJ.

Owen is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy (nee Dunn), his daughter, Kathleen, and her husband Gerald Zukowski, and his two sons, John, and his wife, Katherine (Pokluda), and Thomas and his wife, Nicole Amato.  Owen was proud of his six grandchildren: Alexis, Kyle, Sarah, Kelly, Jaclyn, and Keith, and his great-grandson, Kaiden.

Visitation will be held at Higgins Bonner Funeral Home, 582 S. Springfield Ave. Westfield, NJ 07090 on Friday, January 6 from 4 to 8pm.  A 9am funeral will be followed by a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Lourdes, 300 Central Ave. Mountainside, NJ.  Interment is at Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City, NJ.
