George E. Parliman, 68, of Colonia, NJ passed away in Teaneck, NJ surrounded by loving family on December 1, 2017. A funeral service will be held on Saturday December 9th at 9 am. at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave , Westfield, NJ. Interment is at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa, N.J. Visitation is at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8pm.
George was born in Newark, NJ, then resided in Irvington, before settling in Colonia in 1987. He was a Scheduler for Berry Plastics Co. in Elizabeth. He also worked for Univer sal Carloading & Freight Co, Coca-Cola (Pat Can) and Frigidaire. He was a member of the Soft Drink & Brewery Workers Union Local 812, the Newark Bait & Fly Casting Club and The National Society Sons of the American Revolution. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Woodbridge, NJ.
He was an avid Hunter and Angler, but his passion was his family. He met the love of his life, Colleen, while trout fishing at Echo Lake in Mountainside, and his life was never the same. He enjoyed a watching host of sport s, like boxing, baseball, football and harness racing, especially with trips to Monticello, NY. You could always find him taking pride in his yard work, cooking and baking. His greatest accomplishment will always be his son Tyler.
He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur A. Sr. and Edna E. Par liman. George was the loving husband of Colleen D. for 20 years, and the devoted father of Tyler A. He was the beloved brother to Art A. Jr. and Marianne J ehlen. He is also survived by a host of several nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed by his furry four-legged son, Obi-Wan Kenobi. In lieu of flowers, contributions in George's memory may be made to Tyler 's College f und.
