France A. Saporito (nee Caldaraio) of Union. NJ passed away peacefully at home on December 6, 2017, one week before her 95th birthday.
Friends and family are invited to visit on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 2 to 6 PM at the Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave., Westfield www.higginsandbonner.com A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Genevieve’s RC Church in Elizabeth, NJ. Entombment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia, NJ.
Frances was born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ. She attended Temple University in Philadelphia. Upon completing college, she became a medical laboratory technician. After marrying and starting a family, she became a lab technician at Elizabeth General Hospital. (Trinitas) She later became the head of the hospital’s chemistry department. After retiring in the early 1990s, she took on a new “career”, babysitting for her grandchildren. She could frequently be found playing with a handful of children or driving the carpool to afterschool activities.
She was predeceased by her sister Theresa Caldaraio. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Andrew Saporito and her children, Michele Panich (Michael) and Richard Saporito (Aileen). She was the beloved grandmother of Molly Frieri Neff (Edward), Daniel Frieri, Caitlin Saporito (Andrew Morris), Robert Saporito and Angelina Saporito and one great-granddaughter, Dahlia Neff. She is also survived by her loving caretaker and friend, Kim Mobley.
