Charles F. Douress

Charles Douress passed away at home on Friday, Feb.16th, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in 1925, the son of Thomas and Catherine Douress. Visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 19th, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Higgins and Bonner (www.higginsandbonner.com), 582 Springfield Ave., Westfield  NJ. Memorial Mass will be offered at Our Lady of Lourdes in Mountainside, NJ, on Tuesday, Feb. 20th at 10 am. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery East Hanover. He was a proud veteran in the Navy during WWII. He taught at Seton Hall Prep for 31 years and was inducted into their Athletic Hall of Fame in 1988. He also was an assistant Athletic Director at the Prep and served as equipment manager at Seton Hall University. Charles was predeceased by his two wives, Gladys and Janet, in addition to his brothers, Thomas and Joseph, and his sister Catherine.  He is survived by his children, Diane, Charlie, (wife Clare), Susan, John and step daughters Peggy and Grace. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Matthew, Jennifer, Nicole, Kristi, Daniel, Elizabeth, Brielle, and Brian, as well as eight great-grandchildren.
